Hi Reader, It's been a while since my last email, even though there's so much I want to share with you, especially knowing that many of you are looking for work and are finding the market to be extra challenging. I've been there, and I want to help. If you are serious about landing your next best role, the best I can offer at the moment is an invitation to a Discovery Call with me. During this call we will discuss your specific situation, I will share my suggestions at no cost, and finally share how we can work together if you choose to. Please only book if you can attend as my time is valuable and no-shows will be blocked from booking time again in the future. It is totally fine to cancel ahead of time if needed.
PERSONAL UPDATESI have been out and about doing something that I hope you are all doing as part of your job search strategy. I will share more about what that is in my next email, because it is so good it deserves to have it's own dedicated space. This has also been a busy time on the personal front, including finalizing my taxes at the last hour (today). I remembered that I used to help my exec with personal taxes in one of my roles, but as tedious as taxes are, I didn't mind doing this. After all, is not like I had to be the one gathering all the statements, I practically just came in at the end of the process, non the less knowing about tax strategies and good accountants is certainly something to keep in the back pocket, as well as good experience to highlight for those of us who do not mind doing personal work as part of our job. Do you keep track of all the activities you've done throughout your career? And of course, there's the big news I haven't yet shared unless we've had a conversation or discovery call recently - I am expecting a baby girl in June! and I couldn't be more excited. You can sort of see my big bump in the picture below taken just two days ago at an event with my team. And speaking of events, if you are tasked with organizing an event in New York I highly recommend Casa Cruz for intimate client events that feel high-end and high-touch. The service was impeccable, the bathrooms were impressive, food and drinks were also great and all of our guests commented on how nice this place was. It is located in a six-story Beaux-Arts townhouse on the Upper East Side, and is a combination of a private club (on the 4th floor) and a couple of themed rooms/floors open to the public and a year-round canopied rooftop terrace. After the event, we had a team dinner in the rooftop, and we talked about the team's conference travel plans among other things. I appreciate connecting with my team outside of work, it makes for stronger, lasting connections. Do you connect with your manager or team outside of work? Here's a hint for job Interviews that I never thought of - rent a nice blazer and a couple of interview outfits so that you don't have to spend time over-thinking it. Just make sure the fit is right! The downside to renting is not being able to get it tailored. I don't enjoy shopping and after a couple of hours of searching for a dress to buy for this event, I decided to check out Rent The Runaway and it was such a no-brainer. They had maternity clothes available and oversized jackets. The one I am wearing is a pink Derek Lam jacket paired with a Seraphine Dress. I sized up on the jacket since it's not a maternity size. My colleague's super nice dress is from Maje. That's when it occurred to me that, it wouldn't be a bad idea to rent a couple of interview outfits if you are actively looking for work and want to remove one more layer of stress. AN INTENTIONAL JOB SEARCHI had the joy and pleasure to meet and chat with Ms. Debra Coleman, a seasoned Executive Assistant with over two decades of experience in administrative roles and is also the podcast host of Have a Seat Conversation Podcast.
When we had our first call, I was very curious about how she was comfortable having a visible online presence with her podcast, while still holding her full-time job, something I struggle with a lot. Of course, I disclose my coaching business to my employer and there's nothing wrong with having a side business, but I still struggle with being visible online and letting my employers and colleagues know what I am doing. I feel more comfortable behind my private emails, and speaking to a very aligned group of people. Anyhow, I'm thrilled to share with you my conversation with Debra, From Scroll to Success: EA Coach and Author, Leslie Martinez Shares How to Land Your Ideal Job. Debra, was very interested in learning more about what is an Intentional Job Search, and the steps to get there, and her questions will walk you through the whole intentional job search journey. I promise I didn't hold back any information. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for my first coaching business IntentionsManifested, and in this topic of an Intentional Job Search I get to share some of the foundations of my first program and also, some of the steps to have a more intentional search. You can hear the excitement in my voice, I hope you enjoy it. My Best, Leslie
